The zodiac
signs are divided into six zodiac pairs called polarities. They are opposite
each other on the zodiac wheel and are six signs away from each other. The
signs alternate as positive and negative throughout the zodiac. Opposites
attract and they have a natural affinity and potential to balance one other.
They are called polar signs.
Polarities
are forming a pair by the two polar signs, positive and negative. They are also
named as active/receptive, yang/yin, masculine/feminine. The positive sign comprises
of the fire and air signs (as they complement each other). The earth and water
signs get along well and are called negative signs.
Positive Sign
Positive signs are self-expressive, and tend to focus their energy outward. These signs have an innate need to share their experiences, talk things through and express their ideas. If you have more planets in the positive sign, then you are extrovert. Purpose drives them in constant motion. You crave for recognition for what you offer to the world. They are motivated by worldly rewards like money and fame. Brush off emotional experiences easily and move on from them. Positive signs are focused outwards and concerned with external world.
Negative Sign
Tend to
focus their energy inward and are more receptive and responsive. You are
reactive to outside influence. They are more withdrawn and introverted.
Negative polarities are sensitive to the energies of other people and seek
emotional connect in relationship. You may feel the need to be heard and
connected.
They take time to process emotional experiences and this especially is the case if you are hurt. Negative signs are motivated by intrinsic reasons like using their innate talent for their passion or for what gives them joy.

Aries-Libra
This axis is
about striking a balance between self and other. Aries is the sign of self and
libra is the sign of partnership. Aries is about self interest, personal will,
desire and needs. Libra schools Aries about considering the needs and desires
of others. It is self-supportive Vs supportive for others.
We may often end up giving too much and compromise (Libra) or taking too much from others (Aries). The two polarities are selfless giving as opposed to being selfish. We should learn to strike a balance between the two extremes : Assertion Vs Agreement.
Taurus-Scorpio
Taurus is the sign of self-possession and Scorpio is the sign of shared possession. This axis is about personal Value, possession, security and trust Vs joint value, shared resources, support, security and trust. We can use personal resources for personal security and a sense of self-worth or shared resources in support of self-interest and a sense of power and control. The challenge is to balance between both personal interest and shared interest in terms of resources. Taurus is more focused on being constant with their material possession. Scorpio is about continuous cycle of death and rebirth and transformation.
Gemini – Sagittarius
Gemini is
the sign of self- expression and Sagittarius is the sign of Philosophy and
belief. The duo is about elementary mind (lower mind) Vs Intellectual mind
(higher mind). The polarity is knowledge for a higher purpose as opposed to
knowledge for own sake (Gemini).
Gemini rules curiosity, logical thinking, learning, communicating in the local social environment, day to day information and focuses on smaller details. Sagittarius is about seeking the bigger picture and meaning, higher education, quest for knowledge, truth and wisdom. We must learn to integrate the two opposing forces.
Cancer- Capricorn
The
cancer-Capricorn polarity is about home and family life, nurturing, care and
protection Vs career, reputation/status, social life, control, worldly
achievements and recognition. While cancer is about our private life, Capricorn
is more focused on public life. We should balance the time and energy we give
to home and family with the public advancement for respect and recognition.

Leo-Aquarius
Leo is about
creativity, self-expression and boost to the individual ego through romance and
entertainment and the joy of life. Aquarius deals with revolutionary ideas,
groups, gains and impersonal friendships.
The polarity
is about balancing personal creative enjoyment (Leo) and others social interest, group expression and goals (Aquarius). Leo is about individual expression, while Aquarius is
about group expression.
Virgo-Pisces
Virgo is
practical, analytical, organized, like to keep order, and wants to be of service
to other. Pisces is dreamy, inspirational, imagination and is about spiritual
health, retreat, disorder, self-destructive behavior, invisible realms. The duo
deals with the balance between day-to-day work and routine, physical health and
order vs retreat, spiritual health and disorder.
The polarity is about finding balance between reality and practical
service(Virgo)and escapism, compassionate service and giving in sacrifice to
others(Pisces).
