Ayurveda Vata Diet| Vata Pacifying Food To Balance Vata Dosha
Vata dosha needs to be balanced with vata pacifying food in the diet. Food that are grounding and building are good for vata dominant individual. Also soft , warming , nourishing and easily digestible foods should be taken that do not produce gases.
Qualities to prefer when on a Vata Diet
Prefer warm over cold :
Food should be freshly prepared and warm. Food
should not only be warm in temperature but also use warm digestive spices. Avoid
drinks that are cold or leftover food from the refrigerator as the inherent the
cold qualities. The cooling energy can aggravate Vata.
Prefer Grounding and nourishing foods over Light
Avoid heavy, dense meals in
one sitting. Favor eating light, small meals at regular intervals. Foods that
are solid, nourishing and have a
stabilizing and grounding influence to the lightness of vata. Minimize the
consumption of stimulants like coffee, nicotine and hard alcohol as they disrupt
the grounding stability of Vata.
Prefer smooth over rough
To soothe vata’s roughness consume smooth fruits that are riped like banana, plump, melons and berries. There is lot of fiber content in raw fruits and vegetables, which gives them a rough texture.
